Turning Point USA Plans ‘All American’ Super Bowl Halftime Show in Response to Bad Bunny

Conservative nonprofit aims to celebrate faith, family, and American values while offering an alternative to the controversial 2026 halftime show

Turning Point USA, the conservative nonprofit founded by the late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, has announced plans to launch an alternative “All American” Super Bowl halftime show in response to Bad Bunny’s headline performance at Super Bowl LX. The organization revealed its initiative through social media flyers, inviting followers to vote on music genres for the event, including “Pop,” “Americana,” “Worship,” and “Anything in English.”

The proposed halftime show, scheduled for February 8, 2026, seeks to celebrate “faith, family and freedom,” positioning itself as a counterprogramming option for viewers seeking a more traditional and patriotic entertainment experience. Details about performers and the full lineup are yet to be disclosed.

Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican superstar who has risen to global prominence since his 2016 debut, was named the 2026 Super Bowl halftime headliner on September 28, sparking controversy among conservative commentators and politicians. Much of the criticism stems from the singer’s prior remarks about not bringing his latest tour to the U.S. due to concerns that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could target concertgoers, as well as his playful comment on Saturday Night Live about Americans needing four months to learn Spanish.

Among those expressing disapproval was former President Donald Trump, who admitted he had never heard of Bad Bunny and deemed him a poor choice for such a high-profile platform. “It’s crazy… I think it’s absolutely ridiculous,” Trump said regarding the NFL’s decision. House Speaker Mike Johnson similarly criticized the choice, suggesting that a performer like 82-year-old country singer Lee Greenwood would be more suitable, especially for the young audience tuning in.

Other conservative voices, including Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and commentator Tomi Lahren, also weighed in. Greene raised concerns about “demonic sexual performances,” while Lahren incorrectly questioned Bad Bunny’s U.S. citizenship—he was born in Puerto Rico and has been a U.S. citizen since birth.

The Trump administration has further addressed security concerns surrounding the Super Bowl, with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem pledging that ICE officers will monitor the event. “I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they’re law-abiding Americans who love this country,” Noem stated.

The 2026 Super Bowl halftime show is set to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, home of the San Francisco 49ers, on February 8, 2026. With the introduction of Turning Point USA’s “All American” alternative, audiences can expect a highly publicized cultural and political showdown alongside the game’s major entertainment spectacle.
