Following a whirlwind year of football and music, the power couple looks forward to quality time together

After months of high-profile appearances and packed schedules, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are finally set to enjoy some much-needed downtime together. With the Kansas City Chiefs’ bid for a historic third consecutive Super Bowl win ending in disappointment and Swift wrapping up her record-breaking Eras Tour, the couple is taking a step back from the spotlight to focus on each other.

A source tells PEOPLE that Swift and Kelce will “have a break together” following the Chiefs’ 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9 in New Orleans. “It was upsetting for everyone,” the insider shares, adding that “their lives have been a whirlwind since they first started dating.” Despite the disappointment, their relationship remains strong. “Things seem great between them, and they’re incredibly happy together.”

A Love Story in the Spotlight

Swift, 35, has been a constant presence at Chiefs games throughout the season, often bringing along close friends and family to cheer on Kelce from the luxury suites at Arrowhead Stadium. The Super Bowl was no exception—Swift attended with her brother Austin, father Scott, and friends Ice Spice, Ashley Avignone, and the Haim sisters.

“She truly loves watching Travis play,” the source adds.

Likewise, Kelce, 35, has been one of Swift’s biggest supporters. He attended more than a dozen Eras Tour shows, even making a surprise onstage cameo in London, further solidifying their shared admiration for each other’s work.

Processing the Super Bowl Loss

The Chiefs’ defeat was particularly difficult for Kelce, but his brother, retired NFL star Jason Kelce, took to X (formerly Twitter) to offer words of encouragement.

“There isn’t a person I love or care about more [than Travis],” Jason wrote. “It has been tough to process these feelings, of course I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity. He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments.”

Despite the loss, Kelce remains in high spirits. In a pre-Super Bowl interview, he expressed gratitude for everything in his life.

“I think I found it all. I just gotta, you know, keep it all,” he told Westwood One Sports. “I absolutely love where I’m at in life. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”

Looking Ahead: A Break from the Spotlight

With Kelce’s NFL season over and Swift’s global tour wrapped up, the couple is eager to step away from the public eye and spend quality time together. Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, recently shared that the two are looking forward to a more private period in their relationship.

“I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period for the two of them without the NFL season, with the Eras Tour,” Ed Kelce told Australia’s Today show. “Just them alone, really connecting more. And I think that can only be a good thing.”

As two of the biggest names in sports and entertainment, Swift and Kelce have spent months juggling their careers and personal lives under intense media scrutiny. Now, they finally have the chance to slow down and focus on what truly matters—their time together.
