In a surprising revelation, celebrity wedding planner Marcy Blum recently shared details about the failed wedding plans between Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez, including the singer’s reaction to Bruno Mars’ astronomical performance fee. During an appearance on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast, Blum explained that when Lopez inquired about hiring Mars to perform at their 2019 planned wedding, the asking price for the superstar was a whopping $5 million.
Blum recalled Lopez’s response, saying that the “On the Floor” singer was taken aback, calling the fee “ridiculous.” For a mere 45 minutes to an hour of entertainment, the fee was deemed excessive, with Lopez reportedly declining the offer. Despite Mars’ star power and his proven track record as a performer, Lopez opted not to overspend for entertainment on her wedding day.
Blum, who had worked with the couple in the planning stages, also weighed in on wedding entertainment in general, advising that while it’s tempting to hire a headliner for such a momentous occasion, a “band band” and perhaps a 45-minute set from a top performer like Mars or Elton John might be a more sensible choice. She emphasized that the wedding should focus on the couple, not the performance, advising that the show should complement the celebration, not dominate it.
