Kim Kardashian’s Paris Robbers Found Guilty in 2016 Heist — But None Will Face Jail Time

Eight years after the harrowing Paris hotel heist, eight men are found guilty in Kim Kardashian’s armed robbery case — but suspended sentences mean they walk free as the star calls for healing and justice.

Nearly a decade after the harrowing armed robbery that left Kim Kardashian traumatized, a Paris court finds eight suspects guilty while suspending all prison sentences, prompting the star to call for “healing for all.”

Kim Kardashian’s terrifying 2016 Paris robbery has reached a legal resolution — but not the kind many expected.

On May 23, a Paris court delivered its long-awaited verdict in the high-profile criminal case, finding eight of the ten defendants guilty in connection to the violent jewelry heist that shook the reality star and captivated global headlines. The panel of three judges and six jurors acquitted two others.

The robbery took place during Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, when Kardashian, who was staying in a private residence, was bound with zip ties and duct tape and robbed at gunpoint. The perpetrators made off with an estimated $10 million in jewelry, including her $4 million engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West (now Ye).

Despite convictions on charges ranging from kidnapping to aggravated theft and robbery in an organized gang, all eight found guilty will walk free due to time already served and suspended sentences. Aomar Aït Khedache, the alleged ringleader, received an eight-year sentence — five of which were suspended — but will not return to prison.

Nicknamed the “Grandpa Robbers” for their average age of 60+, the group had meticulously tracked Kardashian’s movements through her social media posts — a reality the star now credits with changing how she shares her life online.

‘The Most Terrifying Experience of My Life’

Kardashian did not attend the verdict but released a heartfelt statement thanking French authorities for their efforts in pursuing justice:

“The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family… While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all.”

Her legal team echoed her sentiments, stating:

“It has been a long journey from that terrible night back in 2016 to her standing courageously in a historic Paris courtroom… She looks forward to putting this tragic episode behind her, as she continues working to improve the criminal justice system on behalf of victims, the innocent, and the incarcerated seeking to redeem themselves.”

A Powerful Testimony

Kardashian testified in court earlier this month on May 13, recalling in chilling detail the trauma she endured. “I was certain that was the moment that he was going to rape me. I absolutely did think I was going to die,” she told the court. She remembered fearing that her sister would discover her lifeless body, saying, “I thought about my sister, thought she would walk in and see me shot dead and have that memory in her forever.”

Describing the moment the intruders broke in, Kardashian said she heard stomping up the stairs around 3 a.m. as she packed her belongings. One man pointed at her and shouted “Ring! Ring!” in accented English. “I was pretty hysterical,” she said, adding that she pleaded with the concierge, “What is going to happen to us, I have to make it home to my babies.”

The Aftermath

Following the robbery, Kardashian retreated from the public eye and later revealed she developed severe anxiety and agoraphobia. “I hated to go out,” she told the court. “I didn’t want anybody to know where I was… I just had such anxiety.”

Despite recovery and resilience, some of the stolen items — including the iconic engagement ring — were never recovered.

A Call for Justice and Reflection

While many expressed surprise that none of the convicted robbers will face additional jail time, Kardashian’s response focused on growth and moving forward. “I remain committed to advocating for justice, and promoting a fair legal system,” she stated.

This case stands as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities of high-profile public figures in the digital age, and a powerful testament to Kardashian’s enduring strength — as both a survivor and an advocate.
