Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Confirm Split After Nine Years: Reps Say Stars Will ‘Focus on Co-Parenting’

Despite ending their romantic relationship, the longtime couple remains united in their commitment to raising daughter Daisy with love, stability, and mutual respect.

As the high-profile couple parts ways, representatives emphasize love, mutual respect, and their united priority: raising daughter Daisy together.

After nearly a decade together, pop superstar Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have officially ended their romantic relationship. Reps for the longtime couple confirmed the news this week, stating that Perry and Bloom “have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”

The pair, who first sparked romance rumors in 2016, share a daughter named Daisy Dove Bloom, born in August 2020. According to the joint statement, “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”

The confirmation follows growing speculation surrounding the couple’s status. PEOPLE first reported the split on June 26, noting that the stars had gone their separate ways quietly. While neither Perry nor Bloom publicly commented at the time, both have since given subtle signs of reflection in their respective ways.

Bloom, 47, shared a thoughtful 20-slide Instagram Story this week, highlighting philosophical musings on loneliness and human connection. He quoted famed psychologist Carl Jung, including lines such as: “Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself.”

Meanwhile, Perry, 39, became emotional during her June 4 concert in Adelaide, Australia, where she addressed fans tearfully before her final song: “Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world.” The performance marked a poignant moment, just days after news of the breakup surfaced.

Their relationship had seen highs and lows. After meeting at a 2016 Golden Globes after-party — a moment Perry once described on American Idol involving Bloom trying to grab a burger from her — the couple split in early 2017, only to reconcile in 2018. They became engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019, and though they planned to wed in Japan in 2020, their nuptials were postponed due to the pandemic. The wedding never materialized.

Both have had previous high-profile marriages. Bloom was married to model Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares a son, Flynn. Perry’s marriage to comedian Russell Brand ended in 2012 after two years.

Despite their romantic separation, Perry and Bloom appear committed to maintaining a harmonious family dynamic for their daughter. Their story may be changing shape, but the chapter on co-parenting — with love and respect — is just beginning.
